Description

This rectangular shawl by Melanie Berg was designed for one of our Advent Calendars, and it is all about balance: clean, crisp stripes in the center meet delicate lace on both ends, creating a look that’s elegant but still relaxed. 

Original version is knitted entirely with five beautiful shades of Lunaris held double, but afterwards we knitted another sample featuring one strand of Lunaris together with one strand of Aestiva, to get another stunning effect.

The pattern is a joy to knit: the stripes keep things flowing, and the lace corners add just the right amount of interest without ever feeling too fussy. The result is a generous wrap you can really wrap yourself in—light enough to float, big enough to make a statement.

Please note: in the Aestiva version, we worked one fewer repeat of the lace pattern on both sides and continued in stockinette stitch until we had used half the total number of yarn ends, so as not to make the shawl too large, given that the gauge and needle sizes used are larger.

• 1 skein in “Lucciole” (color A), 43 g / 471 yds / 430 m used 
• 1 skein in “Supernova” (color B), 45 g / 493 yds / 450 m used 
• 1 skein in “Galessia” (color C), 45 g / 493 yds / 450 m used 
• 1 skein in “Via Lattea” (color D), 45 g / 493 yds / 450 m used 
• 1 skein in “Buio” (color E), 43 g / 471 yds / 430 m used

Second sample:
